Criteria for the IT Strategy Award 2011

The jury will examine the IT strategy with a view to seven critical aspects:

  • Alignment of business strategy and IT strategy with the aim to optimize cost structures, improve performance and ensure a sustainable future.
  • Involvement of technical departments/users in the development and adjustment of the IT strategy and in decision taking processes of IT/Change Management on the implementation of the strategy
  • Consistency of the IT strategy at all stages of “plan, build, run”
  • Concept to ensure quality and sustainability when implementing the IT strategy
  • Adjustment of the IT strategy to external conditions (suppliers, partners, competitors) as well as consideration of current technological developments
  • Organizational design and sourcing strategy of IT as enabler of the implementation of the strategy
  • Lessons learned in the development and implementation of the IT strategy

The Handelsblatt IT Strategy Award is an annual event.

The award will be given to the IT strategy that under the given market and corporate conditions is considered to achieve the most in terms of company support, cost effectiveness and feasibility.

The winner will be presented with the award at the 17th Annual Handelsblatt Conference ‘Strategic IT-Management’.

Entry conditions:
The competition is open to companies whose IT strategy has made a major contribution to the success of the business. The input may come from an IT structure organised as an IT department, cost centre or profit centre or as a stand-alone company – the crucial aspect is that it provides efficient support to the company’s business operations. Applications must be submitted by the relevant IT manager who has actual or formal responsibility for the strategy and its implementation.
